covid Precautions

 LWHat we’re doing to keep you & our staff safe…

We’re very much looking forward to welcoming you to the East London Cabaret Theatre.

In light of the new Omicron Variant of COVID-19 and the Government’s announcement of moving to ‘Plan B’ of the COVID Winter Plan, we’re emailing to reassure you with the safety precautions we’re taking to keep you all safe.

We are asking all audience members, and our staff team, to supply proof of one of the following:

  • Negative Lateral Flow or PCR Test;
  • 2 Covid Vaccinations / NHS Vaccine Card;
  • NHS Covid-Pass QR Code.

If you are double vaccinated against Covid-19, you can show proof of this via either your vaccination card, or the NHS Covid-Pass which can be presented on the mobile app or as a printed QR code. The QR code will be scanned by our Front of House team to ensure validity.

If you are not yet vaccinated, we ask you take a lateral flow or PCR test within 48hrs of attending the event and provide proof of a negative result via either an email or text from NHS Track & Trace or showing the negative test itself. Lateral flow tests will be available at the Box Office and guests who do not have proof of one of the three accepted documents above, will be asked to take a test as a condition of entry.

We will be checking proof documentation at our Box Office check-in to ensure all audience members comply with this requirement.

Face Coverings are currently a legal requirement inside entertainment venues, and we request all audience members over the age of 11 to wear a mask when moving around the venue and whilst seated watching the performance. Masks can, naturally, be removed whilst eating or drinking inside the venue.

Masks offer a good level of protection against passing on any undetected COVID-infection. We will be providing fresh face coverings at our entry and exit to the venue.

A one way system remains in place within the theatre, and entry and exit paths are via separate staircases. We ask you comply with all signage and instruction from our friendly front-of-house team

We are implementing an enhanced cleaning routine between and during shows. The venue will be completely disinfected between shows using medical-grade fogging machines, and multi touch point cleaning will be conducted during the show and interval.

Hand sanitisers, wipes and tissue will be available at various stations positioned throughout the venue and we’d encourage you to make use of these.

Whilst our fabulous theatre can hold 350 fully seated, we’ve capped capacity at 240 to allow for social distancing inside the venue. Spacer seats will be left between groups that have booked and we’d ask you leave a seat empty each side of your group.

In addition to the requirements for guests, our staff have also all been double vaccinated and will continue to wear a face covering whilst inside the venue. Where possible staff will social distance and refrain from touching tickets / seats – when you arrive please have your booking confirmation email or QR code via the Eventbrite App ready!

Your safety is of utmost importance to us and we’ll continue taking all steps necessary to open safely. This includes monitoring daily advice from the Department for Health & Social Care, as well as from Waltham Forest Council, our local authority.

If you have any questions or concerns about our COVID-Protocol, please don’t hesitate to let us know via BoxOffice@elctheatre.com

* – Please note, children under the age of 11 are exempt from wearing a face covering and do not need to show proof of a negative COVID Test or COVID Vaccination for entry to any event at the ELC Theatre. Children aged 12-17 are however subject to the above policy.

COVID-PROTOCOL UPDATED: 8th December 2021, following ‘Plan B’ announcement.
